How can I bid?
To place a bid, you need an active Surplex account. After logging in, open the page of the lot you want to purchase.
How do I place a bid?
- Open the relevant lot page.
- Enter your bid or maximum bid in the bidding field.
- Review the displayed price summary.
- Read and accept the applicable terms and auction conditions.
- Select “Confirm” to place your bid.
After confirmation, your bid is binding.
What amount will I have to pay?
Before confirming your bid, review all displayed costs carefully. Depending on the lot, the total amount may include:
- The hammer price
- The buyer’s premium
- Mandatory additional costs
- Applicable VAT
Additional costs may include dismantling, packaging, loading or other services described on the lot page.
What should I check before bidding?
Before placing a bid, please check:
- The complete lot description
- Photographs and available documents
- Known defects or the “unchecked” status
- Viewing opportunities
- The location of the lot
- Collection dates
- Loading and transport conditions
- Buyer’s premium and additional costs
- The applicable auction conditions
- The identity and status of the seller

Can I withdraw or cancel a bid?
A confirmed bid cannot normally be changed or withdrawn while the auction is running.
Important information when entering your bid
- Do not add a currency symbol.
- Enter the amount using the format shown in the bidding field.
- You can enter your own amount as long as it meets the minimum required bidding increment.
- Carefully check your maximum amount before confirming an automatic bid.
