Some auctions have special participation restrictions. This means that customers from certain countries outside the European Union (so-called third countries) cannot place bids.
These restrictions are introduced when the seller or the type of goods involves specific export regulations, legal requirements, or logistical limitations.
What are third countries?
Third countries are countries outside the European Union (EU).
Why are such restrictions introduced?
There are several reasons why a seller may exclude sales to buyers from third countries:
- Export controls and legal requirements
Some goods are subject to export regulations or special approval requirements. To ensure compliance with these regulations, sales may be limited to certain countries.
- Contractual or manufacturer requirements
Some sellers are contractually obligated to sell products only within specific regions.
- Customs and export effort
Exporting to third countries may require additional documentation, customs processing, taxes, or permits. Not every seller wants or can take on this effort.
- Transport and logistics restrictions
For certain goods, international transport is only possible with limitations or not at all.
Where can I see if an auction is restricted?
If country restrictions apply to an auction, this will be shown directly on the auction page. There you will find information about which buyers can participate in the auction.
We recommend carefully reviewing this information before placing a bid.
I am located in an excluded country. Can I still participate?
No. If a country restriction has been set for an auction, affected customers cannot place bids on the corresponding lots.
These restrictions are checked automatically and cannot be manually bypassed.
I have a delivery address within the EU. Can I still bid?
Eligibility to participate is not determined solely by the delivery address. Depending on the auction, other criteria may be considered, such as the registered customer profile or the country where your company is located.
If you are unsure, please contact our customer service.
Why are some auctions restricted and others are not?
The participation conditions are set individually for each auction. While many auctions are accessible worldwide, certain sales may require restrictions due to legal, technical, or organizational requirements.
Can I find out why I am excluded from a specific auction?
For legal or contractual reasons, we cannot always disclose the exact details of a restriction. However, the information that country restrictions apply to the respective auction is transparently displayed on the auction page.
Our goal
We want to enable as many customers as possible to access our auctions. In some cases, however, we are required or consciously decide to restrict sales to certain countries or regions in order to comply with legal requirements and ensure a smooth sales process for all parties involved.
